Background
A leading Elite Boutique approached WSP seeking to improve desk readiness of Associates around the following:
- Previously, associates received same vendor-led training as incoming analysts
- The curriculum was not sufficiently advanced, and not tailored to specific needs of Associates
- There was limited integration between vendor-led training and internal training
Solution
Complete program redesign to a conference style approach:
- Core Curriculum followed by Track specific Electives: Participants learned together in a core curriculum before being able to choose elective courses specific to their role.
- Role-specific capstone project: WSP developed several capstone projects to replicate what the participant’s role once they are on the desk.
- Online platform design: Wall Street Prep designed an online platform to facilitate the conference style approach, allowing participants to select courses, manage all virtual classroom links and files, and present results and scores to the L&D teams.
Impact
- Training Committee and lines of business observed material improvement in desk readiness. This improvement is notable because the training vendor switch occurred during the pandemic, when similar investment banks were experiencing deteriorating desk readiness of their populations.
- Participants’ own assessment of the program significantly higher than participant assessments in prior years when program was run by a different vendor.
